Why do Chinese use chopstick on the right hand and spoon on the left hand?

they cannot use the spoon in the right hand as obviously, the right hand has the....chopsticks  ha ha ha ha!

if you are right-handed, that would usually be the case and it would be the opposite for a left-handed person.

most people are thought to use the chopsticks when they are young, and just like writing with a pen or pencil, you are left to decide on which hand you would like to use to handle your chopsticks. the function of the chopstick as the main tool is used for everything except things that are in liquid form. most times people don't use the spoon at all.

once you got the chopsticks down, the spoon is used as a secondary tool to eat and has a few functions:

-to help with the transfer of food from the bigger bowl that is shared, to your own

-to scoop up any sauce or soup that you'd like to add to your bowl, or into your mouth.

-to help with food that can be a bit of a problem like fishballs and slippery pieces of abalone or mushroom

-to help break stuff up.

I'm assuming you are refering to the right handed people as my lefty friends do it the other way. It is easier to navigate the chopsticks with your dominant hand, in this case, the right one. Using the spoon is simpler as all you need to do is scoop, therefore using your non-dominant hand is sufficient for this task. I'm not sure of the cultural implications.

However, for some chinese they still use left hand cos ppl also got believe saying left-handed ppl are more smart~ =D

The spoon is usually only used for soups.  If used for other food, then it's not a formal occasion.  In my experience, it's pretty rare for folks to use it.  Some parts of China will use it more than others, but I cannot tell you definitively which parts.

Aha, I just noticed that you're asking from Singapore.  That is much more common in Singapore because of the Southeast Asian influence, where it is much more common than in actual China.  For example, Thais use a spoon and chopsticks with their meals.
