Question:

Why do Christians feel compelled to reply to questions about evolution?

It is assumed that if you believe that Genesis explains the presence of life on Earth that you don't believe in evolution. Why do you feel the need to constantly offer up the Bible as the answer to questions that people may be seriously asking about evolution?

It is the equivalent of non-believers answering religious themed questions with a derisive snort about Jewish fairy tales.

Or is it just that important to get the two points for answering a question, even if you have nothing useful to say?

  1. Only the ignorant, prejudice ones do.

Not all Christian people are nasty.

  2. They are just being fed misinformation in the form of Intelligent Design.  Few are knowledgeable enough on the subject to recognize the logical errors.  It is truly disgusting that the leaders of the movement continue to use all the completely discredited ideas like irreducible complexity and other absurd distortions of logic.  It is nothing but an attack on science and an attempt to get around the supreme court ordering them to not teach religion in public school..

  3. I think both sides are equally irritated by questions that seem to them to be equally pointless and easily interpreted/refuted by their own beliefs. People like to give advice, sound witty, and yes, they also like to preach/convert others.

  4. Please, be aware that the people you speak of are 6 day creationist who are a subset of Christianity. It is my belief that Jesus promoted logical thought.

  5. Christians can never keep their d**n mouths shut.

  6. I think it has to do with the foundation of Christian beliefs, Christians are taught from an early age to preach to others, trying to convert at all times, this goes back to the middle ages when a strong catholic church controlled every day life.  If you look at Judaism on the other hand, they will almost try and talk you out of converting.  It also has to do with the fact that all people that put so much faith in to one thing being right above all others, do not want to be wrong, and in some cases even questioned (christian or atheist, Vegitarian or Meat Eater, Red Sox or Yankees).

  7. Because people want their beliefs to be true and see anyone denying them to be so as a personal attack. Also, humans like to debate - and not just about religion.

  8. Why do you fell the need to ask this question,Is it because a answer that is contrary to your beliefs scares you  and makes you shutter with fear,as to the fact that You may not be RIGHT.As to me reading the answers of others gives a look at the mind set of what passes as wont to be experts. So look deep inside and ask why does this scare me to the point of lashing out as if only people that thank like me can have a say.Really they took time to read the question they have a right to give there answer.

  9. Im of the point where pretty much all I want is to get understanding of certain things.

Im not trying to push evolution and Im not trying to push intelligent design.

I like finding out what both says. Sometimes you find out that the questions that you have about the one side are answer in another and Vi's Vera.

Honestly Im completely in the middle at this point. There are many reasonable facts and information on the Theory of Evolution. And I also feel like there are many reasonable facts and information on the Theory of Intelligent Design.

Which one do I think is better. I havent completely decided. I have many more questions for both sides right now to even come close to guessing what to lean more towards.

All I care is you leave out any bias in answering. Dont answer a question with another question that is aimed at the other side cause all that will do is be like "great, now instead of either finding out an answer, or at least some from of a hypothesis I get another question."

So I dont know if you were thinking about my question that I submitted before so I figured I would pipe in here and just tell you that Im not some holy roller looking to get you to except anything.

You believe what you believe, and that's what I want. I want to know what you believe.

I believe neither theories at this time. I just want to know what they both say. And I dont want biasest opinion. You dont ask a Ranger what he thinks of a Marine.  So Im not asking Intellegent desgin questions to people who dont believe what they do.

  10. Sky Flying Gorgon Witch is right actually..not all Christians are nasty, ignorant and prejudiced.  I am not.

Personally I really don't care whether we were created by God from nothing or whether we evolved.  We are here now and we should each make the best of out lives... .

  11. According to Plato, "Wise men speak, when they have something to say, and fools speak, just to say something"...

  12. Science and religion are both beliefs in a sense when it comes to answering questions such as evolution. unfortunately, religion has become somehwta subjugated which means it is a sensitive area. for this reason, religion can not be snorted at but science can be. simply put, evolution is the thoery to beat, and therefore will be snorted at by over-zealous faithfuls. I do agree with you though that if you want to know something about evolution, you don't want to hear someone reply "GOD CREATED THE WORLD, YOUR GOING TO h**l OMG!!!?!!.

  13. Does being a Christian disqualify one from debate ?.

  14. Im not sure... Whatever I can think of to reply will get som1 to email me in debate.. So I will say 1 thing. Im not sure I really... I have a thery.. But I only start to debate when people say that being a Christian is wrong..

Thery- God gave us the Earth & it is dissapointing to see how people turn away from him & look for ansers that are right there... Just like is it to simple to go & accept something that is right infront of you?

  15. I think this trend is not exclusive to Christians.  Arfcommers put gun ads on craigslist,  Freepers like to spamtroll DemUnderground, DailyKOS folks like to invade LGF, and I swear most atheists I know can't let any  mention of "God" go by without launching into some sermon decrying the absurdity of people who would dare open their minds to the mere possibility that current scientific dogma is fallible.

Think of it as a sort of "Freaking the Mundanes" in reverse.

It is lame, but sometimes funny.

A better question is why you think Yahoo Answers is going to be any more logical than Urban Dictionary.
