Why do Christians get the bulk of criticism?

Not all but in the media especially, Christians are characterized as cunning, Bible thumping evangelicals, far right conservatives who are always judging? It's Christians like these who give people like me a bad name. I'm a college student who is quiet about but possesses a high faith in my Lord Jesus, my friends are different races/beliefs but I don't judge them on behalf of this fact.

I find that life is too short & I believe that actions speak louder than words which is why I cannot stand many of these religious fundamentalists. What do you think?

  1. because when you live in a bubble and claim to be more intelligent then everyone who doesn't think like you...what can you expect...its more small minded arrogance...

  2. Easy Pickings..

  3. because there are so many more christians, and therefor, there are more christian fundamentalists than any other religion we are subjected to daily. and the truth is that even if you don't want to, you are helping the fundamentalists, simply by contributing to their statistics, if nothing else. we don't hate people like you, but still we can't accept you becasue you help to serve the injustices we are fighting against.

  4. Because the 2000's are all about 'my rights and privileges' and 'who has stepped on these rights' and I must say, nobody steps heavier then the Christians.

  5. as with any group, the bad ones taint the pot

and evangelicals are very quick to spread their "love" (aka threats of h**l)... so they tend to attract attention

  6. I am similar to you. I think being somewhat reticent about your faith actually shows a greater integrity and a purity of heart. It is like the person who gives to charity when everyone is looking for the sake of their reputation and sheer ostentation. You perhaps would be the person to do good in all circumstances even instances of no benefit to yourself..it shows sincerity. Conversely I have a sister who is a fundamentalist, who quote scripture, doesn't listen to me when I speak or have an opinion, dismissive, negating the value of what you have to say, nothing outright aggressive but still incredibly rude and disrespectful..Her Christianity extends about as far as is of benefit to herself, she takes breaks and holidays all the time but if her faith required any real self sacrifice she would be out of there..but she gets the magical idea and security of fundamentalism and its elitism, which keeps her happy
