Why do DVD recorders come with 99+ channels when only an auxiliary input can be used to record digital TV?

When terrestrial TV is no longer available in the UK I'm not going to be able to select a specific channel to record from, am I? So why do current DVD recorders still come with multiple terrestrial TV channels?

  1. These players are sold worldwide, many countries still use analog cable.

You should be fine recording through the aux input.

In several years blu-ray and pure digital recorders will supplant dvd anyway.
