Question:

Why do Democrats say Christians shouldn't care about Abortion?

I've heard a lot of Democrats saying that Christians should care more about poverty, genocide, etc and not about g*y marriage and abortion. On g*y marriage, I think it is a stupid issue. Let them marry. Christians believe divorce is wrong but that is legal. To an extent, people have a right to sin. On abortion however, I believe that when you kill a human life (and abortion is literally ripping a baby's body apart or setting it on fire chemically) it is important. You do not have a right to sin to that point. Let God judge the g**s and try to convince them to come to God's grace and God will help them figure out their sexuality from there if they ask him to. Abortion however is killing. Of course poverty is important, but for Democrats to say we should ignore what we believe to be killing is just ridiculous. We need to fight genocide and the murder of babies and poverty. So my question is, why do Democrats lecture right-wing Christians that they should only focus on poverty and not abortion?

  1. Because they want people to focus on those arguments where they believe they'll prevail.

Just like Republicans want people to focus on their strong points.

  2. i dont know but i deffinitely agree with you, abortion is the worst sin you could do

  3. The thing is, is that if most people identified themselves as christians then these christian people probably would use their choice not to have an abortion.  They see both as a personal choice and that should cancels each other out.

In some or many cases poverty is not seen as something that people want or want to be; aka not by choice. So good christians, should help the poor like the bible says.

  4. Because Abortion is a complex issue....people say "Oh abortion is wrong it should not be done period"

But what about cases or rape and or incest? What about cases where the preganacy can end up claiming the life of the mother? (they do happen by the way)

What most right wing Christians some times don't understand is that Abortion is sometimes necessary, and its safer in clinical conditions than in a back alley.

Abortion maybe evil but unfortunetly its a necessary evil and its a lot less harmful if its permitted to a degree than outright banned.

edit- Sophie B the problem with your argument is your putting the emphasis that Abortion is used as an extreme form of contraception, my point is that Abortion is a necessary procedure for that 15% of people who became unwillingly pregnant or its very dangerous to their health or the childs if they remain pregnant, some people tend to put it in black and white and choose that Abortion should be completely abandoned...I among others argue that sometimes abortion is necessary and should be allowed to a degree.

  5. because there is debate as to when life actually starts.  I don't believe it begins at conception. You do.. What we can all agree upon is that the economy needs fixing, all americans need a chance at a good life etc.  Focus on what we know to be actual and factual and not on what may or may not be true.

  6. I've told many people this before.  The Pro-choice argument is complete rhetoric meaning they are only trying to find ways to justify killing another human being.  It's pretty simple that an 8-week old fetus (which is the most common age of abortions) is a living, breathing, human with its own DNA and containing every organ it needs to live.  There is no line besides conception because any other line is subjective.  At conception the sperm and egg unite and create a new offspring that will never exist again.  There is no other way of looking at it.

What people justify is the circumstances around the human killing.  I really wish the Pro-choice people would tell it like it is and say it is better to kill this human being now because it will most likely suffer more later (not always the case).  And if they do that, as they've done in Holland, they will try to push the age to age of self-consciousness which is at age 2.  In a sense these infanticide advocates make more sense than our pro-choice justifiers.

By the way democrats, I'm a moderate political scientist and economist and one thing that I 've learned for sure is that you cannot keep raising taxes in order to pay for social services.  The best method is to lower taxes, lower social spending except for health care and education and let private non-profit groups take care of social services.

  7. Because liberals don't want to have to come to grips with their own faults and responcibilities, and if they can convince everyone to agree it lessens their guilt

"I wasn't able to control myself and had s*x and got pregnant..now it's going to ruin MY future. I'll just kill it and get rid of it, after all I AM the most important one here..."

Edit for darkseid... no one would argue against rape, incest, or life of mom...that equals 1% of all abortions

Roughly 85% are white middle to upper class young women, who get abortions because it would upset their career or lifestyle...there is an answer to the argument, if you don't want to get pregnant, keep your panties on.......

  8. Democrats are troubled about any group that beliefs in a higher power than government.

  9. Biblical fact -- the only time you are allowed to have s*x is with your marital partner with the intention to create life (have a baby).  That means, contraception is a sin, that means if you are infertile and have s*x you are sinning, if you are homosexual, having premarital s*x or if you are just doing it for pleasure or for "love", etc -- all are sinful.  So should Christians only vote for a party that would make all of these criminal acts?

If you want to vote based on general biblical theology, then you would vote for peace, helping the poor, helping the sick, etc.  Those are democratic policies.  Democrats actually care about their neighbors, as reflected in their political legislation, republicans care about themselves, end of story.  Take what you want out of that and vote as you will.

And if you want to look at abortion as a religious/morality issue, let me say this -- most world religions believe that human "souls" enter the body when a baby draws it's first breath.  If the only thing that separates humans from other animals (and plants, other forms of life) is the human soul, then a fetus is no different than a cow and deserves no more "protection" than any other form of life.

  10. Why do liberals gag on gnats and swallow camels?

  11. We simply think it is a hypocritical platform/stance. Since 30,000 children under the age of 5 die daily from a lack of basic food and water.....this does not include those who die from completely curable diseases and those who die from a whole host of other preventable issues....it is illogical to vote for a candidate who doesn't care about this issue--if you are voting for life. We absolutely do NOT say that you 'should ignore what you believe to be killing'. We simply think that, to be fair, you should care about the living people who are already here and dying daily from illnesses that are curable.

The Evangelical wing of the Republican party is not 'pro-life'...they are pro-fetus living. Once the child is born, this is the same party that will deny them services, benefits, medical care, and basic staple foods and milk so that they can survive into adulthood. This is the same party that will most likely send them to unjustified war. The same party that will vote against them receiving medical care and social security benefits. There are 47 million Americans without health insurance. Far more children would be born if we could promise their mothers a better future. Far more children would be born if their mothers and fathers received adequate educations in schools that are not failing. This is a complex issue, but the point is that one party wants women to have a choice to bear a child or not. The other wants women to be forced to bear their children, but wants to eliminate any funding, education, benefits, social programs, healthcare, etc. for that child....which only raises the real possibility of further health, education, psychological, and homelessness  and suicidal issues. What kind of life do you want for that child that you demanded to live?

  12. You've heard a lot of Republicans say that, too.

You're wearing out your welcome all over the place.

  13. As a true Republican, I do not believe the GOVERNMENT has any business in dictating social policy.  If Democrats say the same, they are right.

Also, if you are a Christian adopt.  Adoption.com typically shows about 4,000 available children.  What would happen to that number is all the self-congratulating nut cases picketing abortion clinics encouraged their church to adopt and committed to assisting the adoptive parents?  Never thought of it, did you?

  14. If people start doing things like thinking then they may chose to vote wisely and what political party would want thinking voters?
