Why do Ducks fans hate Paul Kariya so much?

In my opinion, people should be cheering for him because he was one of the guys that kept the Ducks alive in the 2003 Final. I mean, look at Jason Richardson, people still cheer for him even if he left the Warriors. Heck, Scott Niedermayer is cheered for in New Jersey cause they know he helped in the Devils run. Paul Kariya helped the Ducks in the Final too. Yes, he left after breaking a promise, but I'm sure he wants to come back and give back to the fans that 1st cheered for him right? So in the end, why boo him if he's probably the first player that truly became big for Anaheim? Before Teemu came in...

  1. It's probably has to do with the fashion he left in. He was frustrated with the team and never resigned. He left Anaheim to a team that he believed could win the Cup (Therefore he had no faith in Anaheim)! I don't know the exact details but I have a similar situation to compare it with.

Pavel Bure. He was the superstar of the Vancouver Canucks since he got drafted. He had two back to back 60 goal seasons, and holds many records for the team. He was a huge part of the 1994 Cup run that Vancouver had, yet about 50% Vancouver fans dislike him in one way or another! Why? Because he requested a trade because of management problems!

In Conclusion, fans tend to remember the athlete for what he/she has done last. Eg. Zinedine Zidane's headbutt.

  2. i thiink they hate him bcuz if he had stayed they thought that there team had a legitmate shot at the cup and he bolted
