Why do Eastern Europeans have a distinct look from Western Europeans?

As in any geographically separate and isolated breeding populations of the same species, they have developed more or less distinct characteristics.  As we become more horizontally mobile and as we come in contact with individuals of previously separate groups, ethnic characteristics will gradually fade away as the most favorable characteristics survive through more inclusive breeding.

With apologies to Dr. King, in time, we will come to be judged by the content of our character, not by the superficial characteristics of our appearance as these become less and less distinct.
