Question:

Why do Easyjet charge you for putting luggage into the hold?

I recently enquired about flights to Barcelona and discovered that despite Easyjet being a low cost airline, I would get a better deal on the price if I flew with British Airways. When I looked at the breakdown of the pricing, I discovered that Easyjet are now charging you for putting luggage into the hold even though it's a standard maximum weight of 20kg.

Why are Easyjet such a shocking airline and why does their costs come to greater than other airlines such as British Airways? Oh, and I am also appalled at Easyjet's customer service!

  1. You pay for what you use when you fly with a low cost airline. When you fly with British Airways you pay for baggage wither you have bags or not, its included in the ticket price.

If you fly with Easyjet with no bags, you don’t pay for it. Its more fare that way.

Plus, British Airways will probably lose your bags anyways, they lose over 1000 bags at Heathrow EVERY DAY!

  2. British airways are going to charge too, they are arguing before the price of luggae was included, and now they giving you the chance to save money!

  3. They all do in reality, though easyjet 'charge' you as a way of showing the breakdown of costs - in effect they ar giving a more honest quotqtion, and you also have the option of not taking luggage - apart from hand luggage on the plane  which benefits some people ie backpackers/businessmen with just hand luggage.

Easy jet are also fair in the fact that they will allow families to have an average of 20 kilos each between them. My friends was 27 kilos and my fathers 14 kilos so she didnt have to pay excess baggage. As now i have been pleased with easy jet as with other 'open-skies' airlines.

one thing to be aware of is that /Easyjet always gave the option for insurance - now it is difficult to see in the smaller print that it hasbeen added - you still have to opt out.

  4. i know couldn't beleive it, it is only a recent thing as well as ive used easyjet before and they didn't used to

  5. It's a cynical, self serving scam employed by an increasing number of airlines to increase the overall amount of money they take from you without affecting the headline ticket price.

Rumour has it they'll be putting coin locks on the toilets next ;o)

Another reality of air travel, that being despite the fact some airlines heavily market themselves as "low cost" it in no way actually guarantees that they will be cheaper than the alternatives and frequently aren't. More clever marketing!
