What a surprise this didn't make it onto the BBC News.

Nice people the English. Is there anyone they like?

  1. This is also happening to English living in Scotland, and on a larger scale. There's not much difference between the races essentially.

  2. An article dating back over a year is hardly a Current Event, is it? Why don’t you concentrate on current issues instead of trying to stir up the many racists on here (from BOTH sides of the border) with your provocative and trite question?

  3. There's always been a rivalry between Scotland and England and these guys went much too far over the line. A bit of friendly banter, sure, attacking children if they're playing the bagpipes, let me think......NO!!!!

  4. hahaha it's got nothing to do with race hatred. They're just "up for it" and they'll beat on anyone not in their little crew. Especially if there's a difference they can pick on, like nationality, race, football team, age, heck they'll have inter-council estate wars!!

    they should be shot.

  5. Well, the reason why is given in the article, if you read it. Simmering resentment at the Scotts sponging off the English tax payer. Doesn't make it right, of course, but you did ask 'why?'.

  6. They didn't beat them up, but it's sad all the same.  The reason is simple - hatred of perceived foreigners and the statement "Nice people the English. Is there anyone they like?" is an example of it.  I'm sure you're too civilised to chuck stuff at people, but you've still generalised about a huge group of people.

  7. That's shocking. It's no wonder the Scots HATE the English! They can be so arrogant sometimes. Being scottish I'm a bit annoyed by your 1st  answer. I f  were doing things for tax reasons, where's the money? he need to get a life. Have to add I don't hate the English- some of them are really nice ( like my fiance and his family)

  8. The question says more about your attitudes than the English...

  9. I had a glass thrown at me for cheering an England goal in Edinburgh. There was also an 11 year old boy beaten up by some men in a park because he was wearing an English shirt. I don't think we hold the monopoly on violent idiots, my Scottish friend.

Why would the English 'like' the Scots? When does any Scottish person, except Gordon Brown, ever say anything vaguely positive about England? What is there for us to like about a group of people who ask questions like this, and hold generations-old grudges against an entire population because of decisions of historical governments? Do you seriously expect a nation to just take this ever-increasing abuse from Scotland, and maintain an affection for the people?

Seriously, why would we like you? I want an answer.

  10. As someone has mentioned the article is a year old. I suggest you vote the SNP get independance, rebuild hadrianns wall then hopefully the English bashing by the Scotts might stop.

  11. Ooh your'e very racist. Clearly the people who did this are nasty thugs. There is good and bad everwhere., which I'm sure you know.

  12. The quote reads Wendy Campbell as saying they were "pea brained idiots".  She's right.

  13. Please remember that "Pea brained idiots" are not confined to England (I once witnessed a gang of Jock chavs "having fun" by harrassing a group of Morris Dancers at a similar event in rural Scotland). To Scotland's credit, however, the local onlookers quickly put the little sods to right, and the incident never made it to the press. I'm afraid such behaviour seems to be as old as cultural boundaries themselves. Given the sad lack of an effectively "inclusive" education system in either country - admittedly much more evident in class obsessed England - may I suggest a suitable reward, if not remedy, for such behaviour is a d**n GOOD THRASHING of the perpatrators. Inflicted also, perhaps to a lesser degree, on the bagpipers as well, whose awful musical parade obviously helped to incite this sad incident.

  14. Because little boys might fight back.

  15. These answers are pathetic.  "they do it to us" "sponging off us"  what a bunch of saddos you people are.  Yeah, two wrongs make a right.  These were 10 year old children FFS.  It's as bad as protestant parents spitting on catholic school children, vile, sickening, infantile behaviour.

It's no wonder the is NO unity in the falsely named United Kingdom.

  16. I'm English and i don't hate people. I was born and raised in England and have been living in Wales for 5 years. Not only that but I have many Scottish friends..

Don't tar everyone with the same brush!!!!
