Why do Federal Government jobs and representation have temporary assignments to their Office?

You hear about downsizing...well, instead of keeping people around, they create temp jobs for people to work in these types of jobs temporarily (most are not to exceed 6 months), so they don't have to keep another employee. It is a good way to put your foot in the door however, to show your manager at the time of your work ethics, and possibly have another job waiting for you before your temporary job comes to an end.

There are a lot of one year temporary jobs out there. It sucks but the reason for it is simple. A temporary assignment comes with no benefits. Thats a cost the government doesn't have to pay. It all comes down to money.
