Why do Greeks call Macedonians "monkeydonians"?

People who call someone a monkey is rude and racist. There is no other explanation. You can't justify racism.

Edit: The name Zoltan is derived from the Turkish word Sultan. Maybe Zoltan would like to consider changing his name, as the rude person I see below is an abomination to the Turkish name.

In Greece we use the word "monkey" to specify a cheap imitation of a real product.

For instance, if a pocketbook is an imitation of a known famous designer is "maimou" (AKA monkey) product.

Therefore,we use this term for the FYROMians and not the REAL Macedonians who are Greeks, only the "wanna be bad imitation of Macedonians"...

Does it make sense now?

Blunt i run, I must tell you that a monkey is not an insult or a racist issue, we all come from monkeys. Personnally I don't call anyone "names". But Fyromians must finally agree to a commonly accepted name so that we can call them that. We can't call them "Macedonians", because they aren't, so until then, creativity creates names. As an answerer above says, this word is a play of words as monkey means fake in Greek. So it is not really an insult in a racist sense, as you thought it was.

Just wondering: Why does Trotsky vs Kerensky always answer questions about Fyrom in the Greek section? And Totally Blunt follows right afterwards. There are other questions, too, you can answer in our section. Don't be selective!

For the same reason they use insulting names against Greece, a fact some answerers conveniently avoided mentioning. :)

Because they are a bunch of uncivilized people who dont recognize our country because they are afraid of it. But thats ok we have some pretty cool names for their country too, such as Grease, HellASS, Gaygreece, Gayland etc.

There is no such country as Macedonia and no such people as Macedonians. There are only Fyromians. Real Macedonians are Greeks and Macedonia is a part of Greece. End of story.

Because in Fyrom the monkeydonians are:

300.000 people of Greek origin

200.000 people of Serbian origin

800.000 of Bulgarian origin

All these are brainwashed by the communists and they forced to change their sunames mainly ending with -ski in order to not sound Bulgarian, Greek or Serbian. For example the Granfather of nicolas Gruevski was named Νικόλας Γρουιός (Nicolas Gruios) and he was Greek.
