Question:

Why do I always feel as if people are rejecting me...family, friends, my fiance?

I always feel like things are wrong and that everything I do makes somebody angry or that it isn't or ever will be good enough for them. I have panic attacks about these things and I will have intense mood swings of everything being on cloud nine and then all of a sudden I'll be in the deepest, blackest hole. It seems so unstable and I'm sure there are deeper issues and possibly behavioral disorders involved. Does anyone else feel like this or have you ever? Is it normal to not completely trust people or to always think people view you as weak, not good enough, or think that they'll leave you?

  1. Yes, I have felt that way. To me what you are talking about reminds me of the extreme invalidation that a person can go through, the experience can give them "Borderline Personality Disorder". Your extreme highs and lows remind me of bipolar disorder.

Right now I am reading a great few books to help stabilize things:

"Calming your anxious mind" by Zinn

"The gaslight effect" by Robin Stern

" The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Workbook" by Brantley,McCay and Wood

It is possible to feel better, but you have to look to yourself to fix it. In a way isn't that a relief? You're chained up, but you also have the key to unlock yourself.

  2. I kind of feel the same way sometimes. That is you making yourself feel that way, unfortunately. 'You have to always think posative and if somebody does not like the way feel or an opinion you have just tell yourself that you don't care.

You are your own person and you should embrace your feelings not hide them or shy away because you feel like somebody is going to get hurt or get upset.

There are things in this life that we can't control. Take it step by step and don't worry too much!!!

  3. It happens to the best of us.  Trust me, you're not alone here.  Sometimes little things that aren't supposed to hurt end up really hurting, or little jibes people make which they think are funny end up worrying you for days on end.  I'm constantly worrying about my weight, for example.  And when people used to make small comments about clothes (I have no sense of style, I just go for comfort) I used to think they thought I was fat.  I'm not so bad now, though, but that's irrelevant.

Just know you're not alone, and that although its not 'normal', nothing in life is.

    Hope this helps.
