Why do I always hear fire trucks in a thunderstorm?

This week in Boston we've been having lots of thunderstorms, sometimes three times a day. I notice that about 10 minutes into each storm, I hear all the fire trucks wailing down the street. I doubt that houses are catching on fire (I'd hear about it) and that power lines are going down in my area, especially not multiple times a day. Also, I don't live near the fire house, so they're definitely in my area.

Does anyone know why the fire trucks drive around with the sirens on every time there is a thunderstorm?
