When I close my eyes and rub them... I always see a symmetrical kaleidoscope checker pattern.

  1. Everyone sees this pattern when they rub their eyes.  The photoreceptors in the retina are extremely sensitive and both light and pressure will cause them to fire.  A blow to the head will have the same effect.
