make rude statements about Christians? Don't get me wrong I have seen many rude answers from Christians, which I believe it's to defend themselves. But, why is it such a big deal, that Christians believe in God and Jesus Christ, and Athiest don't? Let people believe in what they want to, without making such hateful comments all the time. I do believe in God...in which I find it offensive when people try to throw in my face that I believe in nothing, that He doesn't exist. We'll all find out who's right and wrong on Judgement Day.

  1. I am not quite as much on the "let people believe in what they want to" bus. You've gotta be on some good junk to think beliefs are harmless.

  2. You don't have to come to a public forum.  It isn't mandatory, you know.  at any time, feel free to log off.

  3. First of all, making generalities about any group leads to seeming like a bigot.

Second, you only see the insults against your kind but ignore the ones that your kind dishes up. "...I believe it's to defend themselves..." So it is OK to be rude as long as they agree with you?

Third, some, though far from all, Christians consider it an insult to just have someone disagree with them about the superiority of their god. That is not called being mean, that is called having a different opinion.

ADD: Oh yeah, I almost forgot.   *drink*   (repeated question, try looking up questions about rude and insulting questions; you will find plenty on all sides).

  4. Well Jenny H you believe in Judgement day. God bless you.

  5. AMEN JENNY!

  6. I don't get it either. in fact i don't know why Atheists even bother to come to this section if they dont have a belief anyway, so why come here, besides talking trash about someones religion. i have said it a million times, just because you dont understand it, doesnt mean you have the right to offend someone about it.

i see it ALL THE FREKEN time when i come here, everyday some foul mouth atheist has something mean and rude to say. just dont get it.

  7. I noticed that when you were referring to more than one Christian you put an "s" on the end to make it plural - "Christians".  However, you did not add an "s" to the end of "atheist" to make it plural.  Could you explain why?

    Thanks.

  8. Hey there..

Im an atheist and i've gone off at other atheists countless times on yahoo answers because of their lack of tolerance, their constant rude remarks and their unwillingness to accept other peoples' opinions.. I understand and completely agree with you that some atheists are unwilling to accept peoples' opinions being that of believing in god, but, i would say there are the same amount of religious folk out there who are exactly the same.. After all, to me this question looks like you're trying to challenge us and hence make us come back rudely "we'll see who's right and wrong on Judgement Day". Arrogant much?

  9. Well, the day isn't complete without fulfilling the christian persecution complex.  You guys can thank us with money.

  10. cuz we know they are making a huge mistake by REjecting God...its a matter of life and death....theres more than one judgment too...

There are THREE resurrections in the Bible..

  11. The laughter of the Atheists is merely loneliness pathetically trying to reassure itself.

  12. The truth matters to some people.  It's actually important to them.

When confronted with the inherent (and embarrassing) dishonesty of the wishful-thinking makebelieve that is religion I think some find it hard to remain calm.

Some people when they eventually realise that they have been conned by faith also take it personally and become a little angry.

  13. Atheists have always been==== live and let live== ''you do your thing, and I will do mine''!!

No god, no heaven, and no h**l or Satan.  NO JUDGMENT DAY!!!!

We much prefer SANITY. No myths, no fairy tales no magic tricks..

Reality==substantial facts, see it, touch it, smell it, taste it, understand it.

And we are non judgmental. We only want you to see the truth, not the imaginary!

Now christians?, have ALWAYS been about ==judgments==.  ''you do what I say you have to do, or you will go to h**l''

    ''MY god ,,,says so''

christians are not happy, UNLESS they can judge others. It is their air, and their food. They can no more stop?, than they could hold back the tide!!

So as to the question?, christians always feel the need to attack first!

You know, a  good defense  is always a good offense.

And as long as you attack FIRST?, we will defend ourselves!

    Period!!

  14. Atheists are arrogant and ethnocentric. Christians are arrogant and ethnocentric.

    Both annoy me.

  15. Believe in what you want.  Stop legislating it though and you'll see the rancor much reduced.

And no, by definition if we are right there will be no judgment day and no you left to experience a d**n thing so your ever so "fair" statement contains in it the assumption that we are hellbound fools, and yet we are the ones who insult?

EDIT FOR YOUR ADD:  You are still confused over what Christians have done to offend us?  Check out the seven state constitutions that say we can't run for office or even be government employees (blatantly in violation of BOR).  Check out those with relatives dying of Alzheimer's or MS with reduced hope for a cure because you guys insist that dumpster-bound fertilized eggs from fertility clinics (who by "pro life" logic kill more "babies" than abortion does) that will never ever ever be implanted and develop can't be put to good use.  Check out the 10% of your fellow citizens who can't marry who they love because you misinterpret Paul or insist on that one commandment from Leviticus be kept amongst dozens you ignore (shellfish, poly/cotton, etc).

Check out the fact that it is impossible for a known atheist to be elected to national office because 51% of the electorate would not vote for one regardless of political approval - a senseless bias nigh exclusively based on Christianity.  Check out the schoolkids who are ostracized and beaten up for refusing to join in prayers or an adulterated pledge bastardized into a prayer by paranoid McCarthyites decades after it was written without reference to a god by a Baptist minister.

Check out the higher taxes we all pay because money-grubbing leeches pay none on their millions from televanglizing.  Check out the woeful education results in science compared to countries where teachers are allowed to say evolution actually works without disclaimers or lawsuits, where kids in the millions aren't "homeschooled" into being brainwashed deniers of anything more advanced than bronze-age epileptics speaking words of "gods".

Then take your d**n prayers off my money and my federal buildings.  Take your primitive myths off the government "science" websites.  Take your protesting bigots away from the funerals of our fallen soldiers.  Stop shooting Larry Hoopers and stop pistol-whipping Matthew Shepards.  Stop killing your own kids by praying rather than going to a doctor, or starving your own toddlers to death because they can't remember to say Amen after lunch, or beating your own teenagers to death because they are rebellious.

The world is not YA.  Juvenile whining and ignorant fumblings at apologetics do not offend us.  What you do in the real world - the horrible repression, oppression, and suppression.   THAT's what offends us!

Now do you get it?   You can say "I don't do that personally" as much as you like - I'm sure you will - but you support and empower and give votes to those who do so in your name.  You sit on your backside and let them speak for you and your god.  Let them lie for you and your god.  Let them kill for you and your god.  Stop it.  Stop it.  And I'll stop being nasty to you on the internet.  I mean - they're equal in your mind apparently so it should be a fair trade, right?

  16. Ask yourself why it is only Christians that get attacked and not the other religions?!!!!

Do you not recognise that Christians are provoking retaliation and repudiation for their terrible attitudes?!!

Perhaps if Christians stopped their intolerant, egotistical, hate filled and bigoted postings things might change!!

Perhaps if Christians stopped eschewing education, science, evolution works of fiction and much, much more things might change!!

Perhaps if Christians stopped being the only religion opposing human rights and persecuting g**s, pro choice and so much more things might change!!

Perhaps if Christians stopped demanding freedom of religion whilst they deny it to all non Christians and persecute them things might change!! !!!

If Christians rediscovered the god of love and forgiveness and put aside all those terrible human emotions things would definitely change!!!!

Why are Christians so afraid of people who simply do not believe in any god?!!!! Surely it can only be because they are so afraid they may be right or it would not bother them!!!!!!

  17. Christians, in their delusional state, think that their superstition holds truth for everyone, and as such they try to inject their superstitions into politics, education, healthcare and whatnot. If they kept their fairytales to themselves, nobody would care. But they can't resist to push their narrowminded ignorance.

  18. See, but we Atheists know (believe) that Judgment Day is a myth; it will never happen. So we intend to find out who is right and who is wrong long before then.

  19. Well it seems to me that the problem here is that you consider being told 'that He doesn't exist' to be a hateful comment, whereas many atheists (myself included) do not.  Personally I would say that a hateful comment is a comment that conveys hatred, not just a position you don't like.

If you find discussion of religion offensive, and would rather wait until you die to find out the truth, one might wonder what you're doing in the religion category of a question and answer website to begin with.

  20. What makes rude answers from Christians so excusable, but from atheists it is terribly offensive?  Christians could "defend themselves" through other methods besides inflammatory comments.  In any event, the practice is not reasonable by either side, but it should be expected in a public forum.  Some people are just bitter and angry.

  21. I totally agree that I think any messages of hate and insult ultimately serve no purpose - if anything it makes the victim of the abuse just dig in their heels and staunchly defend their point of view regardless of anything.

We should remember though that both sides of the debate are equally guilty of this. I have heard atheists calling Christians ignorant and naive, while Christians call atheists sinners who will burn in h**l. Both insults serve no purpose.

We should always challenge other people's point of view because that is the only way that we as a species can hope to reach truth and insight. Would we want to not challenge someone with n**i views? Or a religious fanatic who sought to sacrifice his first born? Of course not!

Courteous, respectful and educated debate and dialogue is better for everyone in the end since it creates a greater understanding of our values as well as other people's. I agree that rudeness achieves nothing, but we should remember that both sides of the debate are equally guilty...none of us are smelling of roses!

  22. It wouldn't be a big deal to us if you kept it to yourselves, but when you try to legislate your religion into all our lives it becomes a VERY BIG deal.
