I am a grown man, yet I can't seem to stop the tears. When the crowd starts singing over the protests of the n***s, it just gets me every time!

  1. Because he's so good at it.

Are you totally watching it on tv right now....because I sure am!!  Such a classic.

  2. Because it is a great song and a great movie.  One of my favorite movies.  1965 Oscar winner.

  3. Because he was so great when he played that part.

Probably one of the most amazing movies ever made.

  4. I think the answer to your question is IN your question.

The reason you cry might be because the entire crowd starts singing along in protest. Plummer was offered a commission in the German Navy but he does not want to support the n***s so he decided to flee Austria with his family. So when he was singing Edelweiss towards the end of the movie, he was basically defying Austrian patriotism for supporting the n***s.

  5. Because you're a sap!

    just kidding.

It's a touching moment of patriotism, strength and hope over great oppression. It has gotten me before. Sound of music is a wonderful movie it's a lot better when you know that the movie is based on a true story!
