Question:

Why do I experience bad lung pain while running?

I'm not sure what this is and was wondering if anyone else experiences this while running.

I'm pretty good while running, I don't get many muscle cramps. But sometimes when I'm running, my lungs kill. It feels like someone is trying to mush my lungs in between my ribs-a very bad stabbing pain. I always have to stop running and walk for about 10 minutes for it to go away. Then when I start running again, it usually comes back right away.

Does anyone know what this is?

  1. you probably just have bad endurace(lung capacity or your lungs get tired easily). to increase your endurnce then you should try swimming for a little less than an hour once a week. this should help

    1.  If you've just started running, then your lungs are not in the shape that they should be in order to process the needed amount of oxygen for running, thus the pain.  Your lungs are getting in shape and it will go away in time (a week or two).  Try not running as hard as you've been running, and see if that helps.  Run a bit slower.

    2. If you've been running for some time and your lungs are giving you this amount of trouble, then you need to see a professional and find out what is causing the problem.

    Good luck.

  3.    Hhhhmmm... i am juz a kid who juz graduated from elementery skool. So idk much. But wen i go running, i also hav those pains. I am quite sure dat it is not as serious as the ppl up there, think. I ,same as u, don't get cramps but sumtimes it feel lik sumthin is stabbin me in the heart. As i got better at running , the pain dissapered.

I think dat is happening cause ur pushing urself wayy too hard. Wen i first ran my 5k in 19 min, in my other races i started having those pains. But other than wating for the pain to disapear, i think u should slow ur running down for a while

  4. the previous answerer needs to learn how to speak english.  anyway yeah i would get that checked out by a doctor.  do you smoke?  that could be a reason.

  5. This is very serious. Anything that effects your breathing when your running is something that should be checked by your doctor.

Go to your doctor and tell them in detail what happens, when during the run it happens and etc.

Maybe even go to a running doctor, they probably have more information about it than your usual doctor.
