Why do I feel jittery when I wake up sometimes?

I find if i wake up suddenly from a detailed dream, or I wake up after not a lot of sleep, I feel jittery like ive had too much coffee.

why is this?

im 21 years old, i dont drink alcohal or coffee, 99% of what i drink is water, and i dont take a multivitamin often enough, an d i eat mostly healthy food, no fast food at all. but lots of fruits and veggies

  1. Maybe you have a sleep disorder and you're not getting quality sleep at night. If it's only after a vivid dream or lack of a good nights sleep, it's probably just from sleep deprivation so it's probably not too serious if it doesn't happen often. I'm pretty sure very detailed dreams can make you more tired because your brain is working so much during the night that it doesn't really get a break.


  2. I think it's adrenaline. When you have a bad dream your body can respond to it as though it is really happening, and when you haven't slept enough the adrenaline is out of wack. I get that to, I even wake-up panicky sometimes. But I've been to the Dr recently and I'm healthy.  

  3. i get that a little... don't worry it's not your diet. dreams are there to help us make sence of the world as we see it.. try and get the same amount of sleep every night and go to bed at the same time. it will help tame the dreams if you're concerned about your dreams check out a dream dictionary - just google it!
