Question:

Why do I feel sick after not eating for several hours?

This is something I have ALWAYS experienced, just lately I've wondered what it is that causes it...at any time during the day, if I go several (4+ or so) hours without eating something, I start to feel really sick. As soon as I eat something (even something very small) I feel better instantly, but until then I feel nauseated. I'm actually thin and at a healthy weight, so it's not like I have an eating problem or anything...my body just can't take going several hours without food, yet my friends seem to be able to do it just fine. It's embarrassing sometimes, because all I can think is that people think I'm pathetic when I say I "need" a snack because I feel sick. What is going on???

  1. The sickness that you get from going without food for many hours is very natural. It's just your body's way of saying "I'm out of nutrients."

  2. it sounds like you have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)

make an appointment with your Dr. and ask them about hypoglycemia

  3. You have low blood sugar. Have you ever mentioned this to a doctor?  Do!  A doctor will fix you right up, and you'll never have to experience that sick feeling again.  OK?  Good!!  :)
