Question:

Why do I feel sick if I eat breakfast too soon?

I normally won't eat breakfast until an hour or so after I wake up. I know that quite a few people feel the same, but I'd like to know if anyone knows why that is.

Also, if I wake up in the middle of the night, go back to sleep, and wake up again at my scheduled time, I feel like I want to eat but also feel like I will be sick if I do. Anyone know why?

  1. your stomach isn't hungry at the time...

  2. I don't know why, but I'm the same way.

  3. well, think about it.

    "breakfast".

that word comes from "break" and "fast".

fasting, as you probably know, is when you don't eat for a long period of time.

so you're asleep for about seven - ten hours,

and your stomach isn't getting any food during those hours.

during breakfast, you "break the fasting".

your stomach just isn't used to getting food in it,

since it's been fasting while you sleep.

also, when you're asleep, your body starts running slower.

when you wake, your body needs a little time to get running.

if you eat as soon as you wake up, your body isn't prepared for that,

which is why you feel weird and sickish.

  4. pregnant

  5. Maybe it has something to do with the blood flow to your stomach. It is the longest time period that one would go without food.

  6. your stomach is probably just not ready for that amount of food when you first wake up

  7. You're body isn't ready for food yet.
