I swim regulary (once a week for 60 mins). But after a session I feel awful. I get the following symptoms (for 36 hours):

Sneezing

Feelings of paranoia

Unable to concentrate

Itchy skin

Feeling of exhaustion (as if I have a cold)

Unable to sleep

Feeling of swollen muscles and glands

Lack of appetite

I also run and bike but feel great after.

  1. Take a shower it gets all of the Chlorine off you that is what makes you sneeze and feel like you have a cold as well as itching.

  2. Maybe your allergic to chlorine!!?!

Or anything else they put in the pool.

I know its not just the water doing it, unless you feel the same way when you shower!

  3. I had some of these symptoms and figured out I am allergic to chlorine. But I still swim, what I do is shower with a chlorine-removing shampoo (UltraSwim in my case) and use it as a all body wash. It gets the chlorine off and I feel okay, maybe a bit dizzy but not bad.

  4. Find a new pool, that uses the new salt water system. We have one, it does wonders for your hair too ! Shower and scrub.
