Question:

Why do I feel something stuck in my throat (feels like hair-maybe from when I washed my hair)?

I think I accidentally got hair in my throat when I washed my hair yesterday. I don't know how it got there. Not sure if it's hair or not. The reason why I think it's hair is because I had to spit hair out yesterday when I was washing my hair in the shower. Plus, ever since that minute, I felt something in my throat. Nothing will get rid of it. Eating or drinking won't help. I tried to stick my finger down, but I couldn't b/c I gagged. This is a very uncomfortable feeling.

  1. It could be that you swallowed a small bit of hair which is causing throat irritation. People also complain of this sensation when they have sinus drainage (post nasal drip).  If irriatation is the cause, the symptom should go away in a few days.

  2. It's not stuck in the part of your throat where you eat and drink, it's stuck in the part of your throat where you breathe which no amount of drinking, eating or gagging will help.  You need to really clear your throat by coughing really forcefully or doing like guys do when they're going to hock a lunger and really get the mucous up with whatever may be stuck.  Your body isn't stupid.  If it thinks there's something in there that doesn't belong, it'll bring it up on it's own, but it could take a couple of days.
