My past 2 runs I've had a painful stitch in my side (under my ribs) as soon as I start to run.

My runs the last couple weeks have been great and this only started yesterday.

What can explain this??

  1. if u drank something before u ran then it happens so dont worry if it hurts alot then go check to the doctor i hope u get better.

  2. your body isn't used to it,possibly.do you have asthma? that isn'ta sig, but if you do it could be that.

  3. Those cramps are usually caused by uneven breathing. For example, if your running and talking to someone at the same time. It usually helps to stop or slow down for a little while and breathe deeply and evenly. I hate those cramps! Hope that works for you :)

  4. Stretch your oblique muscles before you run, put your hands over your head and bend to the side.  Make sure you're well hydrated.  If you still get a stitch pit your hands on your head while you run, the stitch should go away soon.

  5. that happens to people alot, dont worry there is nothing wrong

the problem rfom what has happened to me in the past is that you start out too quickly, next time start out slowly, adn gradually build up, and make sure you dont eat something heavy before yo urun, that is another cause too

  6. Lactic Acid build up.  Are you eating a proper diet, drinking plenty of fluids?  Try running a short distance on one day then on the next a longer run...just a suggestion.  Alternate distances
