Question:

Why do I get a feeling of gagging or so when I drink soda but I never actually gag?

Basically when I drink Pepsi or Coke, I get the urge of having a hiccup or gagging it right back out as I am sipping it. But I never do and I am fine seconds later. Happens somewhat often but I don't know what to make of it. Seems to happen more often when I drink from a straw. Anyone got any ideas?

  1. carbon dioxide  in the soda makes you gag.   I can't drink soda b/c of that too.      I just try not to drink it as much.   I stick with only Juice, water, and Gatorade.  I think health wise,  It's more better than soda.

  2. lol.....you're asking the wrong queen about gagging.......

  3. could be the fizz or you could be allergic to something in the cola

  4. thats normal........................

cause soda can't just go strait down like water---

water haz no fiz, carbon dioxide in it

so it will take longer for a fizzing substance to go down your through

  5. its the carbonation in your throat that give a tingling feeling similar to gagging. try waiting until there isn't a lot of fizz on top and then drink it. it happens more when you drink through a straw because the cola passes with air and is also being mixed (like shaking the bottle) on a smaller scale making there be more fizz/carbonation
