Why do I get cramps when I lay on my side?

Im 36 weeks pregnant and when I lay down sometimes on my side, I get cramps in my lower belly. Almost like stong period cramps. Can anyone help me?

your baby is most likely positioned on what side you are laying on and he/she is probably telling you that he/she doesn't like when you ly like that
