Question:

Why do I get done earlier on Fridays?

I am a route driver and do business related delivery for one of the worlds best know wholesale retail seller(starts with a C). The drivers all have a specified route we do Monday thru Friday. We do, generally speaking, often get done much earlier on Fridays, and often have much overtime on the other days. The warehouse manager continually questions how this is so... I told him I would research this problem and bring him the most intelligent answer I could find. Any ideas why this phenomenon occurs?

  1. Monday is seen as the beginning to a weeks worth of work. So you start of slow, taking your time because it doesn't matter, you have to be there and work regardless. But when Friday rolls around you can start to get a glimpse of the much needed break you need, and you know as soon as your done for the day you will indeed get to do so.

Just part of human nature I assume.

  2. It's called "human nature." There is no incentive to finish early Monday thru Thursday, just the opposite, working an hour or two later makes you extra money. But, and their is always a but, Friday means Party Time. We go a little faster, we cut a few corners, and, low and behold, we got done earlier and we are that much closer to the keg.

I'll bet if you look at the cave drawings in France, the ones done on Friday are not as good as the ones done earlier in the week.
