Why do I get head-Rushes (dizziness) when I quickly get up?

All this summer I have been exercising five times a week, 25-55 minutes of cardio and some lifting. In the last few days I have had head rushes when I get up from the couch from a sitting or reclined position. The only variables that have been different in the last week is a bit of insomnia (job stress) some constipation (but that can be normal for me) and I have kicked up my cardio workout a few minutes extra to break through a plateau.

I take protein shakes and multi-vitamins 3-4x week.

2 cups of coffee a day.

I am 39, 6"0 and 188 lbs. No history of breathing or heart problems.

What could be the cause of my head rushes?

  1. The dizzyness if from a change in blood pressure when you move from lying  to standing.

Get your BP checked as it is often a silent little beggar and the dizziness might be the only clue you get that your Blood pressure is slightly off..

Stay well and kudos on the lifestyle routine to maintain health.

  2. Orthostatic hypotension.

  3. its from a sudden drop in your blood pressure

  4. It is because a drop of your blood pressure as the person above said, you could try standing up more slowly, or get your doctor to help you with it

    Best of luck!

PS i get these too, i can see sparkles and if ive been led down for a long time everything goes black.
