Why do I get homesick every time?

Every time my parents move me back up to school, I cry when they leave? Why is that? I'm very family-oriented & close to my family but the 1st day is always the hardest (move-in day) & it's like I can barely compose myself. I'm a junior in college so I don't understand why it's like this? Is there any way to stop the tears from flowing?

  1. Maybe because your are your daddy little princess ?

  2. It's normal, and more common than you think. I teach at a university, and I think most students feel this way, although they may not admit it!

  3. aww, that sucks.

first, i'd like to say that you're really lucky you're so close to your family. a lot of people wish they could have a family like that.

here are my recommendations for solving your problem:

    > talk to the campus psychologist or counselor. tell them about your problems. sometimes it can really help to just talk it over with someone.

    > do your best to get a really solid close group of friends at school. if you've got a great support system at school, you're less likely to miss your support group at home. (or at least miss them quite so much).

    > okay, i'm no psychologist, but it sounds like you might have some kind of attachment disorder. again, it'd be best to talk to the campus psychologist and see what they have to say. the combination of medicine + therapy helps a lot for most people with psychological problems. i know it's helped me a lot.

lastly, don't feel bad about yourself. EVERYONE has problems.. but most people don't have the willpower to get help for them. you're doing better than most just by seeking help online. next step is looking for help in person.

    good luck with it.
