Why do I get light headed when...?

One thing I noticed is that whenever I'm lying down and I get up.. I get super light headed and I feel the blood rush to my head, I almost fall over. That also happens after I sit for prolonged periods of time.

Any ideas on why that happens?

  1. It is because your blood pressure suddenly drops when you stand up. It happens to a lot of people, I have it also. It is nothing to worry about. Just get up slowly and give the blood time to get back to the head.It is called orthostatic hypotension meaning your blood pressure drops when you stand up, but it comes back to normal if you just stand still a few seconds. It is not life threatening or serious. As I said, it is pretty common.

  2. its called a "head-rush" all of the blood in your head flows out then back in and gives your brain that same un oxygenated blood

  3. omg me too! idk why..everything goes all light..its weird.
