Why do I get stomach pain so often?

I get mild stomach pain almost daily.Acute pain attacks few times a year where it can be tamed by a jab.

My stools is loose, sticky and brown with mucus but without blood.

I've done 2 scopes. One from mouth and other from a**s (colon scope I guess). But,couldn't rule out the cause.Doctor's suspect it's IBS but is not 100% sure.

What other test can be done to rule out the cause?

I'm very tired and sick of this frequent attack as it's effecting my life.

I dare not move around when this attack occur.

Is there any IBS support group where I can contact? Is there anyone out there with similar condition?

I found Buscopan with effective, but will I be 'dependent'on it if I were to take whenever I get the pain? Will it loose it's effectiveness if it's taken too often?I'm afraid I need to take more and more dosage in future. Can someone pls help?

  3. My boyfriend has IBS also.  He has the same problem where he will get stomach attacks and he has mucus in his stool.  He still hasn't found anything to help his.  He constantly has to go to the bathroom though, which is a pain for him because he plays football and is very active.

  4. As far as I know Buscopan is not addictive.  It is an anti-spasmatic - this means that you are having pain because your colon is having spasms, this durg will calm it down.  I was on a similar one called dicotel (sp?).  You should NOT take more than what is prescribed to you.  It will be most effective if taken regularly (ie, everyday if that is what the instructions are) than just when you need it.  Medications like that often have instructions like: take half an hour before eating etc etc.. make sure you follow those.

As for IBS support groups try the Crohns and Colitis foundation.  In canada they exist in all major cities and have really help you!

As far as I know about tests as well, your doctor would need to take a biopsy of your colon to see if it is IBS, crohns, colitis or otherwise.  Don't stop util you get an answer!

I have had colitis for 5+ years and feel your pain - literally.  Unfortunately when it comes to disgestive disorders you need to change your lifestye.  Find a diet that is tailored to your condition - this will include low fat, low sugar, no seeds, minimal fiber, etc etc.  Everyone is different so perhaps talk to a dietician with experience with IBS.  Sometimes, when you are having a flare or 'attack' you will need to be very strict about what you intake such as eating only cooked vegetables so that they digest better and do not irritate the bowel.  Also, keep exercising AND stay as stress free as you can!  Stress can trigger the flare-ups!

Once of the best things you can do for yourself is find a specialist.  A gastrointerologist (sp?) is an expert on gastro-disorders.  they can give you the right medication and advice that a normal doctor cannot.  Find one you like and don't just settle for whoever you are reccomended to.  I went through three before I found the right one and he has gave me my life back.

  5. you need to see a doctor not yahoo answers

  6. first thing you should know, whether is it really IBS. It might be another thing. Before i also suffer from stomach pain most of the time, not knowing that its actually an 'ulcer' causing it. What the physician did is to prescribed some medicine to me to take. And it really serve me well. Try to discern what really causes such stomach pain, consult your doctor. Hope you feel better soon...
