  1. The updates usually just fix security problems and bugs. They rarely make changes you can actually notice, but they do reduce the chances of a crash or virus infection.

  2. you need to contact Microsoft, I had the same problem when I upgraded my machine.

    You have to Re-register the update components. This error mostly occurs that the update engine was not registered or installed correctly.

    you don't have to do both these steps, I did just step one and it worked out fine.

    Step 1: Re-register Update components

    ======================================...

    1. Click “Start”, click “Run”.

    2. Type “cmd” and press Enter

    3. In the opened cmd window, please type the following commands one per line to register the update engine

    regsvr32 wuapi.dll

    regsvr32 wups.dll

    regsvr32 wuaueng.dll

    regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll

    regsvr32 wups2.dll

    regsvr32 wucltui.dll

    regsvr32 wuweb.dll

    Step 2: Reinstall Windows Update Agent 3.0

    ======================================

    1. Please download the file from the following link:

    http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7/win...

    2. Save the file to C: drive.

    3. Click “Start”-> “Run”, type: “C:\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe /wuforce” and then press Enter to install the Windows Update engine.

    There is a space between "C:\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe" and "/wuforce"

  3. The updates are usualy security patches, to fix the bugs and holes in windows that they found after releasing the product

  4. It's just a update that tells that It wants to fix the bugs in the computer. :D

  5. They are mainly security updates that patch errors on your windows software that hackers use to exploit weaknesses of windows. You will rarely notice any changes but they are important for your PC security. Get a imac less hassle and superb computer!

  6. This seems to be a problems with SP3 attempting to download updates for SP2 which have already been incorporated into SP3.

    Many users have Windows Updates set to Automatic and are finding that there are updates ready to be installed, when they install them they then get another round of updates ready to install. This is a problem with the Microsoft Updates and not the users machines.

    I have turned OFF Automatic Updates as when I checked the update site the available updates ready for download were 0Kb in size and 0 minutes to download.

    Right click My Computer, select Properties then click the Automatic Updates tab and Turn OFF Automatic Updates.

    Then proceed to Windows Update and select ‘Custom’ then click the ‘+’ beside each update. If it shows: Download size: 0 KB , 0 minutes then tick ‘Don’t show this update again’

    Then once a week go to Windows Update and manually check for valid updates.

  7. They are normally security fixes and bug fixes. You won't notice anything different or better most times. Normally they are for plugging holes in your security
