Question:

Why do I have a hole in my grass near the curb

The hole goes down as far as I can see, next to a vertical drain pipe by my curb. It's not a hole dug by an animal. We tried to dump soil in there, but apparently it's washing away. We haven't had any issues with our plumbing, but I'm thinking that maybe there's a slight leak in the sewer pipe that runs from our house to the main line. Could there be another reason? Our house is for sale and I want to get this resolved so I don't stick a new owner with any underlying issues.

  1. I don't think you have a problem ,you might call your town clerk to direct your call to the right dept and ask that they look at it to ease your mind.

  2. If its near the curb it is your cities problem. There is at least a 25 foot right of way that is their responsibility. I do agree with you it's some sort of a leak underground. I suggest calling your local town office or public works and have them come take care of it.
