  1. I am not really sure why but I know how to get rid of them.  Use a mix of cinnamon and put it in a bowl by the tub. The ants will come and pick up the sugar, along with the cinnamon, and take it back to their queen. Ants can’t digest cinnamon and once the queen dies from not being able to digest the cinnamon the colony will die without her.

  2. They're probably after the water, and they're probably nesting under your tub or in one of the walls nearby.

    Depending on the species, a bait may work, but you're going to have a hard time since the steam from the shower can cause it to run, rot or crystallize.

    Oh - and cinnamon/sugar doesn't work. Kim G has been spreading this rumor all over Yahoo Answers. Ants can not swallow cinnamon and thus can not have a problem digesting it. Here's the proof.

  3. My guess is Water.

    If, your house have a crawl space, you may want to have someone look under and see if the Drain P-Trap leaking. This lets them know; "there water in them there hills. :-D

    If, you on a Slab you have to remove the Bath Tub;
