Lately, I have had problems with breathing when I sleep, especially when I am on my back. I tend to grasp for air and breath slowly when I'm on my back. I feel like I lose a litttle bit of air. I think it might be because of muscle spasms, but I'm not sure. I take creatine when working out, but stopped then I took some diet pills and then stopped that to see if that was the problem. I still have the problem. Help me

  1. I have had a few friends with the same problem and they went to a doctor and were diagnosed with sleep apnea. You stop breathing when you sleep and you may snore a lot. They give you this mask that provides oxygen while you sleep and you wake up feeling much more refreshed and less sleepy throuhgout the day. Go to a doctor cause sleep apnea is serious.

  2. Are you overweight or obese?

    Could be "sleep apnea".

  3. You have been taking diet pills.  If you don't have asthma, the condition is called OSA( Obstructive Sleep Apnea) common among obese people.

OSA is a common sleep disorder that is characterized by a brief collapse of the upper airway during sleep. This blockage prevents air from flowing properly into the lungs and causes pauses in breathing. If left untreated, OSA can cause high blood pressure, memory problems, weight gain, impotency, and headaches. It is also associated with an increased risk of inflammation-related heart conditions. Obesity is common among individuals with OSA and it may also be associated with inflammation. It is not known, however, whether the increased risk of heart problems is caused primarily by the inflammatory effects of OSA or obesity.

The most common treatment for OSA is continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, in which a mask is worn over the nose during sleep. Air flows through the mask to maintain a level of pressure that keeps the throat open. The most common treatment for obesity is weight loss. This study will determine the primary cause of heart-related inflammation by evaluating the individual and combined effects of CPAP therapy and a weight loss program in treating obese individuals with OSA.

If  you have problem sleeping on your back as the  fat in your neck obstruct your airway.  Try sleeping  with two pillows to elevate your head or sleep on your side.

  4. You're obviously fat if you are having problems.

  5. you could try sleeping elevated.  There is an inflatable wedge.
