Question:

Why do I have email command activity for membership requests in my unsrestricted, open-membership, group?

My yahoo Group is unrestricted, memberships do not require approval. Settings verified because people join daily with success. My activity log for email commands shows several memberships requests each day. Pending Memberships show no requests (shouldnt anyway). No requests or any messages have been sent to my linked Yahoo Email address from the listed addresses in the activity log. I do not receive any group-notification to email about these listed requests. 2 years ago my group had 'membership approvals required' but has long since been shut off. Again - joins are happening automatically each day (and those joins do not list as requests within the command activity log). :

So I just want to know what is causing this activity to be listed and if there is a chance that certain people trying to join the group are being processed as 'requiring membership approval' but without entry in 'pending membership' ??? I am the only moderator of the group- any advice much appreciated ! :)

  1. The email command feature is a feature available for all group owners to use if they need to.  The activity log is also a setting that is built in to the Yahoo Groups system for each group.  That is just letting you know who joined or left every day.  It would also document if members and messages have been approved or denied if a group owner has their group on moderated status.
