Why do I have itchy eyes? & when I rub them they are moist then they turn dry??

but they never turn red and barely turn pink... i googled it and it says allergy... I believe that because of the cold weather here, in San Francisco... also I've been in my closet alot cleaning my clothes....I guess its a lil dusty in there... and I had a cold last week but it's gone now.... but this morning when I was waking up my eyes itch....so I was rubbing them and when I went in the bathroom to look at my eyes ... the bottom of my right eye was swollen... was it because I was rubbing it too hard?? Do anyone know what I should do to stop it? and whats with the swollen part of my eye?? :-\ Should I worry?? (its still swollen been about half an hour already) THANKS!

It is so odd this has been happening to me too.  The eyeball itself is swollen after rubbing.  I would like to understand why?

this happens to me alot i have allergies to allsorts like dust soap powder ect ect. i cant say whats causing it but i find if you get a flannel and run it under cold water (i sometimes even put it in the fridge in a bowl of water) and the put it over your eyes for a while, it eases off and the swelling goes down plus it feels really refreshin wen you have been rubbing them alot. hope this helps x
