I am 28 and have a million health problems and have so much money in back medical bills, I highly doubt I am going to be alive when I am 65 and I doubt I could qualify for medicaid

Why do I have to see these things coming out of my paycheck? It bothers the **** out of me because I need every dime I can get and I will never be able to qualify for these things

  1. I find your question to be rather selfish.  Nobody likes being forced to hand over money to the government, but the seniors who get SS and healthcare benefits appreciate it (most of the time).

If you pay so much for your medical bills, you should consider finding an employer who provides better coverage.  Even at a lower wage, if you're paying that much for healthcare, you can probably make less salary and get better benefits somewhere.

  2. You also will probably never drive on some of the highways paid for with tax money, or see the benefits of huge portions of your taxes.  Taxation is designed to benefit society as a whole.

  3. Taxes (all of them) are used for various purposes, often not directly appliacble to the person paying.  However, they are used to benefit society as a whole (in theory).

Your rights as a citizen include the right to ***** and complain, and to VOTE. It's through voting that changes are made.

Incidentally, your diatribe against high medical bills makes no sense.  The high cost of medical insurance includes (among other things), the massive cost of American's penchant for suing for any possible injury.  The cost of SS and Medicaid has nothing to do with the high cost of medical care in the first place.

  4. You might one day. Thats like saying you only have to pay taxes to the fire department if your house burns down, or to the city if there is a pot hole on your street.

  5. You don't necessarily have to be 65 to be on either.  There are plenty of people on Medicaid that are much younger than that; from infants to young adults.  You're only 28.  You don't really know what's down the road and you may qualify for both down the road.

  6. First, you're not paying for medicAID in your paycheck, you are paying for mediCARE.  Secondly, oftentimes people don't plan well for the future.  You may want to do a little research on how poor people fared before social security came about.  "We" (the government) decided that someone had to use foresight.

It's a win win situation....if your health problems are as serious and numerous as you say, you will probably take advantage of the disability portion of social security at some future point.  And medicAID may become available, which you didn't contribute to through your paycheck.  And if you recover and live a long and healthy life, when you're older and eligible for medicare and social security, you'll be happy you did.

  7. What you have coming out of your paycheck now is not going into an account for you, it is being used for current recipients. If you live long enough to collect social security then someone who is currently working at the time will be contributing to your SS income.

At your age, by the time you reach SS retirement age the system will be bankrupt anyway.

  8. My answer may not be liked by you but it is the facts. If everyone felt as you do, where would our seniors be today. You are not the only one in that boat you are riding in my friend. I work in the health care field and I see many many young people coming in with multiple problems. Number (1) the reason you have to pay Social Security and Medicare is......it's the law..........and if you are blessed to live to retirement age and have no other retirement income, what little bit you will receive from Social Security will mean the world to you..........I have a son who feels as you do and I have tried to explain it to him and just as my answer will not be liked by you, hey he didn't like it either.........Good luck to you my friend

  9. yeah it's just another tax that we all have to pay, get over it. and yourself

  10. I believe everyone gets there SS when they hit a certain age (65) no matter what. Medicaid is given to those on low income, if you are considered low income then you may deff qualify for Medicaid. They cant assume ''oh this girl has this and this, she wont live to see this, so we just wont take it out of her pay'', it doesnt work like that. No body knows how long you will live, so you have to get taxes taken out just like eveyone else does. Go and apply for Medicaid, the only thing they can do is say No...or someone else get wind and call you and tell you what you do qualify for, something where you only pay a percentage of the bills and not all of them, like the Health Dept. And the beauty about paying back hospital bills is that you dont have to pay the full amount up front or the first bill..you can pay $10 a month on a hospital bill if you wanted to. They cant do anything to you if you are paying each month..even if it's $15 or $55...so pay what you can. Obama wants to raise taxes for the upper class and lower taxes for the lower class..thats one reason I vote him.

  11. I said the same thing when I started working.  I worked from 16-21 thinking that same thing.  And then I was diagnosed with cancer, and literally my only help was social security and medicaid.  Now I strongly thank everyone who works and pays into taxes, and gladly give my share back.

The problem isnt that you have to give money in taxes.  The problem is that our gov has poor money managing skills
