Why do I have to wear both Invisalign aligners?

I started Invisalign a few days ago, due to minor correction of the lower teeth. The lower teeth have three attachments but the upper teeth do not have any. The upper teeth are perfectly straight. Does the upper aligner serve any real purpose? I'm not sure how the upper teeth can be affected since there is no anchor point for movement. My dentist doesn't have clear answer to it.
