Why do I hear a loud knock when i start to drive in reverse or when I brake hard?

  1. It sounds like a loose or worn bushing somewhere.Perhaps if you were to place it in park then rock it back and forth by pushing on it the fault could be located.Try looking at the engine area while doing this too.


  2. Better check your engine mounts and the transmission mountings.

  3. loose gearbox/mountings. engine mounts loose, loose calliper(s) faulty gearbox. worn suspension/ incorrectly torqued bolts. loose/worn driveshaft(propshaft). some clunks come from the gearbox if it has done high mileagfe due to general wear and tear. if this problem occured after callipers changed i would start there.
