Why do I hear music and not voices when I play a DVD on my system?

I have a JVC DVD/Surround Sound Theather System. I can hear all of the music and background stuff but no main voices.

  1. Make sure the center channel is enabled.


  2. If the system has a center speaker, make sure that it is working.  You should be able to make your receiver produce test tones that cycle through all the speakers in order to balance their volume levels.  Use that to make sure sound comes out of the center speaker and that its volume matches the other speakers.

    If you do not have a center speaker, make sure that you have set that in the receiver speaker configuration set up.  You should select "none" for center speaker if you don't have one.

  3. you could have some set up problems. it cud be the settings of the dvd player. the sound selection, or karaoke selection cud be playing a separate balance for sound and the voices. just try to fuddle with those. and also try different dvd's it cud be the dvd too at fault
