It happens two or three times a day and has happen more frequently recently. It feels weird, sort of numb and really heavy. No other parts of my body feel different, other than my hands when I use them a lot (for typing, texting, etc). I am just worried this may be the lead on to something more serious.

  1. It could be carpal tunnel syndrome or RSI - repetitive strain injury, which for reason is more common from typing on a computer keyboard than on the old-fashioned typewriters which were harder work....carpal tunnel syndrome is pressure on the nerves that go through your wrist into your fingers.

Sorry it sounds scary....I am a medical typist, and often type long reports.  I try to take a break every so often, for my eyes as well as my hands.  Is there anyone at work you could ask for advice about having the keyboard, mouse and screen in the right position to be comfortable?   Or use a wrist rest for the keyboard and/or mouse (though I don't like them myself, my colleagues seem to)?

  2. Carpal tunnel syndrome is compression of the median nerve at the wrist, which may result in numbness, tingling, weakness, or muscle damage in the hand and fingers.

  3. best thing to do is see a doctor

  4. Aspartame poisoning.

  5. Are you stressed out? I went to hospital about a year back with numbness in my arm and finger tips then breathing problems and dizzyness. The doctor told me it was due to taking on too much and being so stressed as a result. I still get the numbness in my arm and finger tips but the breathing i have learnt to control.

  6. consult a doctor

  7. Could be a result of neck problems especially if you do a lot of computing etc.

Best to get it checked by doctor
