Dr says all I can take is benadryl or sudafed....neither of those are worth taking...they don't work. What does?

  1. I had 9, that's right 9 sinus infections while I was pregnant, and they put me on antibiotics...and then yeast infection medication. Maybe your doctor doesn't believe in giving you medication while your pregnant, but my doctor did, and my son is healthy. I did have him early but it was because I had pre-eclampsia, which wasn't because of any medications.

  2. I didn't think Sudafed was safe during pregnancy. Maybe you should get a humidifier for your room and try saline (salt and water mixture) and put it up your nose.

  3. Unfortunately sinuses are affected when pregnant and the lack of medicine we can take is a pain in the behind.  Odds are you will not be able to fully get rid of your sinus infection until you give birth; you will need anti-biotics and you cant be given those when you are pregnant.

My sister and I both had sinus infections while pregnant and the thing that worked the best was a saline rinse.  Its all natural and it cleans out your sinuses.

    Congratualtions and good luck!

  4. It has something to do with blood flow I think. I had horrible nose bleeds during my first and second trimester but it stopped at 3rd. People always said "OMG GO TO HOSP" but i was fine just in a bad mood as a result lol. Hopefully your sinus infections will go away

  5. I was reading the other day that you're more likely to have sinus problems when you're pregnant. So it's not just you!! :) I think it has something to do with an increased blood supply, and also the fact that pregnancy runs you down. There's lots of little blood vessels in the nose, and they might bleed a little bit, with the extra blood, thus enabling germs better access. Just try to get lots of rest, and keep your nose clean!!

How about something like lemsip, or vicks vapor rub? They might help with the symptoms at least.

Surely there is some form of mild anti biotic that you can take while pregnant?

  6. Really your just going to have to live with it..I know how you feel..I kept getting them too..and it SUCKS, because all the medication I would take..I couldnt because of my pregnancy...

My aunt thats a nurse explained to me something about the immune system of a pregnant woman can change...and sometimes we will feel sick, but there isnt much we can do, or really anything wrong..I wasnt sure and its been a year since she told me this..so I know I messed up what she said..

    JUST KNOW ITS NORMAL.

And you wont get it as often when your finally unpregnant lol.

EDIT** For a sinus INFECTION, if you have been to a doctor, in order to clear it up they should have given you some kind of antibiotic, like Keflex...or something..and once the actual infection has cleared, they should have you take benadryl or something.

Also, you CAN be given antibiotic during pregnancy, because they dont want you dying because of STREP or something during your pregnancy...they have certain antibiotics you can take while pregnant..KEFLEX is the one the doctors had me on a few times during my pregnancy..for my sinus and strep issues...(I WAS ALWAY SICK!) soo Dont listen to Angele...she doesnt know what shes talking about.

  7. You can take Tylenol Sinus as well. Chlortrimeton, Dimetapp, Tavist-D 12 hour and Robotussin plain (alcohol free) are ok to take for stuffiness. When you are pregnant you'll tend to have a more stuffy nose because there is more blood circultaing thru your body. I just read this because I seem to have a stuffy nose all the time and this is my third pregnancy. You can also use a Saline Nasal spray or nasal wash. These meds I have listed are all safe to use during pregnancy as everyone of my doctors have approved them. You can call and double check with your dr. if you'd like. Hope you get well soon.

  8. antibiotics ! you keep getting them as your body is rundown sinus infection is very common in pregnancy. other thing that may help is steam from the bathroom if showers on . if not getting better go back to the docs.

    good luck
