Every time I use the Yahoo anti-virus I get a Trojan from Zuten.

  1. A lot of free services plant their own spyware because they want to track your activity and on-sell the data they accumulate. Yahoo is a commercial enterprise making money out of this sort of thing just like MSN, Microsoft, BigPond. They want to wipe out other peoples' spyware and plant their own. That's why I log in with a false ID and never stay logged in, and don't browse with Internet Explorer!

Yahoo's programming is not good. I suspect they use Microsoft's proprietary script which is leaky, because that would explain why a lot of the site's functions won't work with a secure browser like Opera, and you are encouraged to use a leaky one like Internet Explorer. This means their sites are hackable and could become a target for others to plant Trojans on.

To be clear - I use the Yahoo site as my home page - it is as good as any other big company site - just no better. Use antivirus and antispyware products from independent sources:

    Zone Alarm

    AVG

    Comodo

    Ad Aware [lavasoft]

    Avira

    Avast

    GRC

    EMCO

try avg, it's free and it's really good. anti virus.

  3. First thing to do would be find out what exactly what the Zuten thing is,

google should help you find a virus database.

Sometimes anti-virus give false reports on harmless stuff which you can usually tell it to ignore.

Mine use to freak out over gamespy.

    Hope this helps.
