Why do I keep having dreams about smoking?

I keep having reoccurring dreams where I'm smoking either weed or cigarettes... I've never smoked in my life and I don't really plan on it. In my dreams nothing significant really happens, and unlike all my other dreams I can't really remember details. I know other things have happened, but I only remember smoking.

And each time I smoke its like I do it all the time, and I like it. I mean I'm not gonna go out and smoke now, but I'm just wondering why I've been having so many dreams about it.

Any Interpretations?

  1. I could only give you a vague interpretation as I too have had such dreams.

I'm someone who's never smoked in his life, never have done and never will. But I remember a period where I had some pretty realistic dreams of me smoking and also enjoying it.

At the time I was always around smokers, every day, as they were my friend and I hung around them no matter what. They respected my stance on smoking and I respected theirs. Anyhow, I at the time just struck it off as being my surroundings and with those surroundings creating a small sub-conscious curiosity towards it.

I guess In my dream I outed that curiosity just to see what it would be like as I know that in the real world I wouldn't give myself the chance. So in a way it can be to express your curiosity (and what it would be like) without actually doing so. Of course if you're not curious at all or it's a different scenario, then you should consider your surroundings.

As a final note, if somethings on our mind enough, or if that something leaves a big imprint then it can affect our dreams.

Either way, from past experience I can only say that with me it went away with time. Of course curiosity still occasionally arises.

  2. You might have got fascinated seeing others smoke, and the dream is its reflection.

  3. here's a thought...

I think the fact that you were smoking in your dream isn't so much of the point.....like you should now smoke b/c you had a bunch of dreams about it.  Make sense?

One thing that we do know about what smoking does, is it gets into your body and it, if it goes on for a long time, can cause damage to your internal organs and stuff.  It pollutes your system, even if it tastes or feels good.

I think the dream talks about some things that might be going on in your life that might be "polluting your system" and you don't realize it.  I don't mean to sound harsh or anything, but I think that these dreams are warning kinds of dreams to consider what's going on in right now w/ you.  That there could be things that you might not know that they are damaging you from the inside.

Lol.  I know that was a little straight up.  But I think God speaks through dreams to us and I think He is trying to talk to you.

    Well that's my 2 cents.

  4. To dream that you are smoking, indicates that you are trying to shield yourself and others against your emotions. You have trouble letting others in.

To see, smell or use marijuana in your dream, suggests that you are experiencing an expanded sense of awareness and consciousness. You need to take advantage and draw insight from this new consciousness. The dream may also mean that you need to look on your inner strength for stimulation instead of relying on outside forces.

To dream that you are smoking or offering a cigarette, signifies your need for a break. It may also points to issues of  dependency. However if you are against smoking and have this dream, you must analyze aspects of your waking life and what you are doing that may adversely affect your health.

Most dreams contain messages that serve to teach us something about ourselves. Unfortunately many a times we forget what we dream about as we go about our daily routine. With recurring dreams, the message may be so important and/or powerful that it just will not go away. The frequent repetition of such dreams forces you to pay attention and confront the dream.   The dream is trying desperately to tell you something.  Such dreams are often nightmarish or frightening in their content, which also helps you to take notice and pay attention to them.

Recurring dreams are quite common and are often triggered by a certain life situation or a problem that keeps coming back again and again. These dreams may recur daily, once a week, or once a month, but whatever the frequency, there is little variation in the dream content itself. It usually points to a personal weakness, fear, or your inability to cope with something in your life - past or present.

The repetitive patterns in your dream can reveal some of the most valuable information on yourself. It may point to a conflict, situation or matter in your waking life that remains unresolved or unsettled.  Or some urgent underlying message in your unconscious is demanding to be understood.

Following are some tips in overcoming your recurring dreams.

    1. In understanding your recurring dream, you must be willing to accept some sort of change or undergo a transformation.

    2. You must be willing to look within yourself and confront whatever you may find no matter how difficult it my be.

    3. You must be able to look at the dream from an objective point of view. Try to get pass the emotional and reactive elements of the dream and get down to the symbolic images. Many times dreams are masked by elements that are disturbing preventing you to delve any deeper. This is a  defense mechanism that your unconscious may be putting up.

    4. Be patient. Do not get discourage if these dreams still recur even after you thought you have come to understand them.

    5. Learn to accept yourself truly and fully.

Often times, once you discover what your recurring dream is trying to tell you, these dreams will change or altogether disappear.

  5. have a glass of wine in the evening and call me in the morning.
