Why do I keep having to restarting Firefox 3?

Question

Every other day or so, I have to restart Firefox because pages don't load. When I go to open a page or reload a page, nothing happens.

So I close Firefox & try to reopen it. Sometimes when I try to reopen it, I get a message that says I need to close the other Firefox application before I can open it again even though there is no other Firefox window open.

When I do get Firefox reopened, web pages load fine.

I didn't have this problem before I updated from Firefox 2...

I would try reinstalling Firefox.  Also, some extensions can cause major problems.  Try disabling/uninstalling your extensions or themes.  Also, try firefox's Safe Mode.  Start > All Programs > Mozilla Firefox > Safe Mode.  If safe mode works, the problem probably lies with an extension or add-on.  You should also make sure you have the latest version of Firefox.  This might be a bug that they have since fixed.
