Question:

Why do I keep losing connection to my Linksys router?

When I first bought my Linksys router (WRT54G) it worked great. Then I bought a webcam. I did a port forward and I was broadcasting fine on the webcam, but had intermittent internet distruption. If I surfed the web while using the webcam, I'd lose connection for a few minutes and then it'd work again. So I unplugged the cam, uninstalled the camstream encoder software, and reset the router and everything. However, every day I come home from work and I've lost internet connection. I have to reset the router again. I've noticed when I go to manage networks, the local connection shows enabled, and the wireless network shows disabled for some reason. Why does it keep doing this? Why would my webcam cause problems with my router? Does it have anything to do with memory?

  1. This has nothing to do with memory. When you buy a router, you must be aware of the amount of productivity your router can handle. If you are using Remote Desktop Connection, or a WEB CAM, you must have a router that can perform a fast speed. The more you do with the Internet, WEB CAM, downloading, you must have a fast router. Usually, the fast, more productive routers are more expensive. It does not mean that your router is bad, it just means your router wasn't designed for WEB CAM usage. I recommend you either buy a more fast router. If you cannot get a new one, just move your web cam closer to the router. That MAY increase speed. Not much. I also recommend you to not put your computer to sleep. For some crazy reason, it disconnects itself. My computer does the same thing. That may be the reason why your losing your connection.
