Why do I lose mileage every morning when I leave for work? I live 4 miles from hwy but it drops 10-15 evry day

As soon as I pull out of garage my numbers drop within the first minute and by the time I get down the end of my street, I lost 5 miles on my reading. I have a 06 Taurus and it has been doing this for a while now. It levels out after a while but not until I lost 15 miles. Is this normal

Engine control unit runs the engine rich when cold to keep it running and to get the engine up to optimum operating temps quicker.

sitting at stop lights, stop signs, and in traffic still burns gas, which lowers the estimated milage left.

The speed sensor is not makin a good conection try unpluging it on the trany and replugin it in if thats ok then check the ground on the trany good luck
