Why do I need a 50/50 light in my saltwater tank and what is it good for?

you dont if u have fish only with live rock u can have 18 watts with fish and live rock i used to u only probably need a 50 if u will be getting corals if not like i said a 18 watt will be good happy reefing

you don't need a 50/50 light

well if it's a single bulb fixture and you have hardy corals (mushrooms, xenia, etc which can survive in a single bulb tank) then it's good to get the actinic light

50/50 means it has 10,000K (a white color of light) and actinic (a blue color)

if your light fixture has 2 bulbs (stronger light, can suport needier corals) then you can go with one actinic and one 10,000K bulb

50/50 isn't refering to wattage, it's a mixture of colors of light
