Why do I need to buy the expensive DVD+R DL discs to burn a movie that other people can burn with a regular?

I want to use regular dvds to make movies but the files are 6.4 GB and i know for a fact that it has been burned on a DVD-R so how can I do this?

  1. Hi jmaus06,

    You need a program that compresses the video. The downside is a slight usually almost unnoticeable reduction in quality.

    DVD Shrink will fit the entire DVD on a standard DVD and so will other programs such as Clone DVD.

    What I use and love is Clone DVD. The advantage there is you don't have to copy things you don't want. You can selectively skip content you don't want. I don't have it copy extra languages, "editors cuts", previews of coming attractions, closed captions, extra soundtracks etc. By doing that I greatly reduce or eliminate the need for compression.

  2. You need to shrink them to the size of a regular dvd. Search for DVDShrink
