Why do I never hear anyone discuss reduction of human reproduction rates?

Seems to me that no one from the most hard core right wing, supply sider to the greenest, left wing, eco nut ever mentions the possibility of encouraging reproductive responsibility. I hear allot about the stresses the human population puts on the ecosystem, resources, and itself. I hear all kinds of good and not so good ideas for alleviating these stresses through new technologies. How hard is it to say, "Maybe we shouldn't be having more than one or two babies per couple."? Imho, that would do allot, especially long term, to reduce pretty much every kind of human and environmental stress.

Because humans are free creatures and to attempt to control such personal aspects of our lives is a disgusting concept.  

Go to China if you like such policies.  Look at THEIR environment - they are planning to induce rainstorms to clean the guck out of the air over Beijing for the Olympics so everyone doesn't choke to death.

Outrageous population growth doesn't go on in Europe, Japan, or the US.  It goes on in Rwanda, Sudan, India, etc.  Most developed countries have a near-zero internal growth rate - their population growth comes from immigration.

There are plenty of people that talk about reducing the human population....there are specific organizations trying to educate people on this topic.  I am all for people reducing the number of kids per family.  Read more below:

its because humans have no rights to make decision on other humans life. its just not fair. and also humans are the dominant species on the planet.

Because it's a somewhat sensitive issue.  Birth rates are high in the areas where people are starving to death and low in the lands of plenty, which is normal for any species.  Opinions vary, but mine is that the largest population the earth can support with both the earth and the population healthy is probably around half a billion, comparable to the end of the bronze age.  We currently have 6 and a half billion, mostly living in squalor.  What is your plan?
